The West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination (WBJEE) is conducted once a year to assess students for undergraduate programs. It uses an OMR-based system and includes two compulsory papers:

– 40 questions each | 50 marks each
Furthermore, all questions are multiple-choice and divided into three categories:
- Category 1: 1 mark per question | –0.25 for wrong answers
- Category 2: 2 marks per question | –0.50 for wrong answers
- Category 3: 2 marks per question | No negative marking
Candidates who attempt both papers are evaluated under two merit lists:

The total score is out of 200 marks. The syllabus is based on the 10+2 curriculum and includes key chapters from:

- Chemistry
Consequently, consistent practice with mock tests and sample papers can greatly improve your performance. Also, refer to Appendix 9 in the official bulletin for a detailed syllabus breakdown.
Result and Rank Generation
After the exam, WBJEEB evaluates OMR sheets and generates two separate merit lists:
- General Merit Rank (GMR): Based on total marks from both papers
- Pharmacy Merit Rank (PMR): Based solely on Paper II
Once results are published, you can log into the WBJEE portal and download your rank card. Interestingly, WBJEEB does not publish public rank lists to maintain data privacy.
