Veterinary College, Shimoga (VC Shimoga) is a leading college which is involved in imparting veterinary education and training. This constituent college was established in the year 2006 and is situated in Vinobanagar, Shivamogga, Karnataka. The college is recognised by the Indian Council for Agricultural Research Right so as to provide quality education in Veterinary science. Located in a large piece of land of 172.18 acres, VC Shimoga creates the ideal environment for learning and development. The college assumes 333 students and is staffed by 34 talented and experienced professionals. VC Shimoga teaches 12 courses under two programmes focusing on veterinary science and animal husbandry.

VC Shimoga has equally acquired numerous facilities to accommodate the physical programmes and the general students’ activities in the college. The campus also boasts of having accommodative hostels for boys and Girls students in order to enhance their comfort. The college also has an efficient stocked library that comes with e-learning amenities and it is open to both the staff and students. The college facilities include modern laboratories for all the programme departments which support practical teaching and research work. To support its community, VC Shimoga has a health centre to deal with students’ first aid needs. State of the art Information and Technology equipments are available in the campus so that students can use modern equipments for their lessons. Sports activities as well as exercising is facilitated through acquisition of a gym and the different sporting facilities. The college also has an auditorium of 80 sitting arrangement which can be useful for conducting the conference and seminars. A canteen is also present to handle all the food requirements of both the staff and the students, while a guest house to house the visiting faculties and students’ relatives.
VC Shimoga provides all the essential courses for the veterinary process. A total of 12 courses are offered at the college making it an institution that offers both undergraduate and post graduate programmes. The most important programme is the undergraduate Bachelor of Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry programme on which the rest of the veterinary education building is supported. At post graduate level, the college offers M.V.Sc in Veterinary Pharmacology & Toxicology, Veterinary Public Health, Veterinary & Animal Husbandry Extension, Animal Nutrition, Veterinary Pathology, Animal genetics and Breeding, Veterinary Microbiology, Veterinary Gynaecology & Obstetrics, Veterinary Anatomy, Veterinary Parasitology and Physiology and Biochemistry.
