Vandayar Polytechnic College was ceremoniously started in the year 2005 not as a regular engineering college but as the technical institution in Thanjavur, Tamil Nadu. This affiliated college recognized by all India council for technical education addresses AICTE provides various diploma courses in engineering streams . The college infrastructure is spread over 5 acre and the total intake capacity of this college is 746 and total no of faculties 74. The institution’s determination to produce“home grown “engineers has in turn put Vandayar Polytechnic College at the forefront of the had the best Polytechnic colleges in the region.

Vandayar Polytechnic College boasts of having quality teaching environment with quality facilities as part of its infrastructure. Students make use of highly developed laboratories for all kinds of specialised engineering, which facilitates practical training. The institution has a well-stocked institutional library which acts as a keyinformation resource centre for the Students, and members of staff. As for the students who need boarding, there are bars for boys and girls in the hostels that will make them comfortable throughout their school time. The college also places a lot of emphasis on work life balance hence there are facilities for students to exercise and keep fit. A campus auditorium as one of the facilities provides a setting for various activities, also academic seminars, which contribute to the academic life of the campus. Also, it has been seen that college has health centre to provide first aid facilities to the students so that the college gives priority to the health of the students.

Vandayar Polytechnic College on the whole provides five full-time diploma courses out of which all the courses have a tenure of three years. These courses are offered for various branches of engineering and afford various options for students to have area of interest- Diploma in Mechanical Engineering and Civil Engineering etc. The college has 570 direct intakes approved for its programmes, which clearly shows that the College has the capacity to produce a number of engineers in the country every year.
