US Ostwal Institute of Pharmacy, Chittorgarh

The Ostwal Institute of Pharmacy, Chittorgarh (USOIP) is an educational rather young institution which was established in 2018 year. This affiliated college is situated in Mangalwad Chittorgarh district of Rajasthan it is making rapid strides in the field of pharma education. PCI approved, USOIP functional with a campus area of 2.5 acres of land is situated at Modinagar. The institute is at present with a total strength of 188 students and has 21 faculty members. USOIP provides two pharmacy specialisations, at the undergraduate and diploma levels. The institute is co-educational, in which makes the learning environment more diverse to ensure students can secure good jobs in the pharma industry.

Ostwal Institute of Pharmacy has many facilities that an institute can have in the present world to aid the learning of the students. The technologically developed library has a rich stock of 4500 books, 25 journals, both national and international, and 20 magazines and newspapers. It can teach 100 students at a time and has digital books through Delnet and anybody can use 100 mbps internet 24 hours. Established as per the PCI norms, the USOIP has well equipped laboratories for Pharmaceutics, Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Pharmacology, Pharmacognosy and Microbiology/Biotechnology. The institute also has a well equipped CPCSEA-compliant animal house for practical and research needs. Separate hostel accommodations are provided for boys and girls to enhance comfort, including geysers, and coolers for air conditioning. It has a common mess with hygienically prepared tasty food, sports area for playing outdoor games and indoor games respectively. Moreover, USOIP offers transport facilities to other regions; also it is covering the 90% faculty as well as students transport facilities for other city such as Udaipur.

The above revealed that US Ostwal Institute of Pharmacy has relatively a compact academic programme with two full-time pharmacy courses. B.Pharma is an undergraduate course which takes four years to complete, the diploma course in Pharmacy D.Pharma takes two academic years. The CBM programme has approved intake capacity of 60 seats annually while the MCEM programme has got an approved intake capacity of 60 seats annually making a total of two courses 120 seats. This specific focus enables USOIP to have a clear and on Close view of the pharmaceutical education facet of its operations and facilitating quality training and education to all the enrolled students. The current total student intake capacity of the institute is 188 proving the institute’s policy of reasonable class sizes for proper learning.

US Ostwal Institute of Pharmacy has its admission policy in accordance with the rules and regulation set by the State Government, Affiliating University as well as Pharmacy Council of India (PCI) and All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). To pursue B.Pharma, a candidate should have completed his/her 10+2 examination with passing in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics or Biology. The programme of D.Pharma normally completes with 10+2 qualification with Science subjects are preferred. From the current policies of USOIP it can be seen that although the institution has a noble goal of offering quality pharmacy education it holds to standard as provided by the government and aims at producing professional for the industry.
