Technically, Kongu Polytechnic College, Salem, was founded in 2007 and is one of the leading technical colleges in Tamil Nadu, India. Located on a 20-acre campus on NH 7 Trichy Main Road, Mallur Salem, this affiliated college has been nurturing the young engineers for over a decade. It is a recognised establishment that is recognised by the All India Council for Technical Education and offers a wide list of diploma programmes to meet different engineering fields. - Boys Hostel
The college has Separate Hostel facilities available for Boys. The Hostel provides accommodation for all needy students. The rooms are furnished with a Table, Chair, Cot, and Fan. The Boy's Hostel accommodates 300 students. The Hostel Mess is run by the College Management itself. The mess charges will be on a sharing basis. Every effort is made to keep the bill at an affordable level, with the cooperation of students in avoiding wastage, use of water, etc. The stress is on providing hygienically prepared food. The Centralized Kitchen uses steam and gas for cooking. The Kitchen is equipped with modern cooking equipment and gadgets for the preparation of doughs, chutneys, cutting of vegetables, etc. In case of an emergency, the students will be taken to nearby hospitals such as Dharan Hospital, Gokulam Hospital, etc.

The college has Advanced-level Education requires Advanced Laboratory facilities and hence the Department of Computer Engineering has features that include Servers like Windows 2003, Red Hat Linux, and Novel Netware Software that consists of MS-DOS, Adobe Photoshop, Macromedia Flash, J2EE, Oracle 8i, Visual Studio 2008, Turbo C++, Blender, and Hardware System that is made up of Pentium IV processor, 160 GB Hard disk, 1GB MB RAM, 512 KB Cache Memory, 2.4 GHz Speed, 3 1/2 Floppy Drive, DVD Drive, LCD Colour Monitor, Multimedia Key Board, and Optical Mouse.

The College has a spacious and airy Canteen. It provides a variety of wholesome, tasty snacks and food at a reasonable price. The Canteen also provides packaged snack items, bakery products, and soft drinks to the taste and requirements of not only the students but also the staff members.
- Transport Facility
The College has its fleet of transport to pick up students from Salem, Omalur, Ammapet, Rasipuram, etc., and covers almost every important location situated within a radial distance of 30 KM. The College is presently using 6 buses.
- Alumni Associations
The college Alumni are invited once a year for a get-together function. They will have discussions about their career and personal life. There will be a meeting with the Management, Principal, and faculties which will be a feast for the alumni. They enjoy meeting with their old friends and faculties. Alumni have informed all the important functions in the college and separate invitations will be sent to them to attend the functions. They are treated as college guests after they complete the courses.

The college provides excellent learning and good lab facilities for sound practical knowledge. The laboratory space has been doubled and has been upgraded with the latest types of equipment.
