St. Xavier’s College of Education was founded in 1950 in Tirunelveli is an autonomous institution relentlessly working for the cause of education. - Library
The college library is the heart of our institution and is well utilized by student teachers and researchers. The library has two floors with an area of 5942 sq. ft and a seating capacity for about 150 readers. At present the library houses a collection of above 21,968 books, 1,382 book bank books, 886 dissertations, 53 dissertation abstracts international, 841 back volumes of journals, 252 CDs, and 11 years of question bank. The library subscribes to 4 International and 39 National journals from reputed institutions. The library also subscribes to 23 magazines and three daily newspapers. The library is fully computerized through Rovan Technologies of Library Management System and students can search the resources through a computer-based catalog [Online Public Access Catalogue (OPAC)]. There is a separate digital library section. It has 2 (Two) Kindle e-readers, 96,000 e-books, and about 2000 online journals subscribed through the UGC N-List consortium. The library resources exploration happens as around 75 students use the library every day.
