Siva College of Education, Dharmapuri

Siva College of Education, which started in the year 2014 in Dharmapuri, is a teacher education institution. Situated in the village: Errapatti District, Dharmapuri State, Tamil Nadu. This affiliated college has been recognised by NCTE, that is, the National Council for Teacher Education. Located on a bare 1.958 acres of area, the college has a current enrolment of 163 students and has 15 faculty members. In line with its specialisation aspirations for teacher training, Siva College of Education currently offers only one qualification, the Bachelor of Education (B.Ed).

Siva College of Education is affiliated with Tamil Nadu Teachers Education University, Chennai. Siva College of Education boasts general and specific learning facilities because it believes in creating a well-rounded learning environment that caters to all the corporeal needs of its students. The campus comes with a knowledgeable library which acts as a Documentation Centre for books, periodicals and multimedia documents specialising in education, sciences and humanities. It is also advantageous to students that the school boasts a digital library, e-books, e-journals and a broadband internet connection. 

For co-curricular activities, the college possesses an open auditorium with a seating capacity of 300 and is equipped with a modern A/V multimedia system suitable for events and programmes. The DPE promotes success equal to a proper diet concerning both body and mind, and facilities for indoor and outdoor activities. Further, student comfort is provided in the college through admitting separate, well-furnished hostels for boys and girls so that students feel like they are at home away from their home.

Siva College of Education has an academic focus on teacher education, and the largest programme offered by the institution is the Bachelor of Education (B.ED). This is a two-year full course that has an approved entry of 100 students per academic year. The B.Ed programme aims at preparing individuals who have the desire to practice as teachers through the provision of relevant knowledge and skills, apart from practice teaching. As of now, the college provides only one programme of study; however, because the college prepares teachers in a single speciality, the teachers in training can be given more specialised training.

The admission procedure in Siva College of Education is as per the guidelines provided by the state Government, UT Administration & the University to which the college is affiliated. Student intake depends on merit as established by performance in the qualifying exam and/or entrance test. The college may also name extra procedures of selection depending on the policies of that given time. As for the admission, the college does not provide certain dates, but at least candidates are informed to visit the college website frequently or communicate with the college admission office in order to get the most recent updates in terms of application date and procedure.
