Mar Thoma College for Women, Perumbavoor, was started in 1982 as a first self-financing college exclusively for women in Kerala that is affiliated with Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam. This is a women’s college in Kerala offering a range of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in the streams of Arts, Science and Commerce. The college is in a 10-acre campus total enrolment of student is 864 and 35 are faculties. Mar Thoma College for Women is built with a dream to provide the quality education exclusively for women students and it is accredited with the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC). At present, the institution has 14 courses offered in five degree programmes which make it give a broad academic experience to empower young women.

Mar Thoma College for Women offers various forms of contemporary facilities appropriate for promoting learning as well as the personal development of a student. The campus provided with a well stocked library with 16796 books volumes, 27 journal subscriptions and 35 magazine subscriptions to fulfill all the needs of the students and faculty. For the physical fitness and recreation purpose, students have a multi-gymnasium and there are elaborative nicely maintained playing fields also. When it comes to information technology, the college is determined to improve its staff and student’s internet and technology-based learning resources, which includes computer centres and other e-learning facilities. A girls’ hostel on campus is available to provide accommodation for out-station female students. Other facilities include a canteen, a hall for performing functions, seminars etc. and internet is also available in the entire compound. The college also has laboratory sessions for practicals, large and well lit classrooms and ample parking space for staff and students.
This college has a total of 14 courses offered of which some are undergraduate, and some are postgraduate. These offerings are spread over three years and the programmes include B.A., B.Com, B.Sc as well as the B.Voc degree. In as far as postgraduate degree is concerned, the college offers M.Sc programmes which take two years to complete. All courses are taught under full-time scheme so that students get focused and sound education. The programme wise total students intake is 864 which affirms the policy of the college to make sure the college has best ratio of student and teacher that will enhance learning.
