This affiliated college is one of the most popular medical colleges, situated in Madurai, Tamil Nadu and having an academic tradition in providing medical education for almost seven decades. MMC provide diverse medical training programmes and has 43 courses in total across 8 degree levels. The college features all the modern facilities necessary for students’ fruitful learning and personal development on campus. Students at MMC are offered different hostels for males and females in order to offer a comfortable living space. It has adequate accommodation for a library which is compulsory for the medical college. The institution has a medical facility on campus, which means that student who wants to pursue a medical profession uses the place as both the classroom and a hospital. There is also much concern to the balance of working and playing environment with the adequate sports facilities available in the college. To make sure that MMC adopts modern technological applications that are displayed in the involvement of medical treatments, MMC has assured a strong Information Technology support. The campus facilities include a cafeteria where students and staff can take their meals and an auditorium where everyone can attend special occasions and seminars.
MMC aim in providing facilities for the medical courses to both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. For the MBBS programme, 250 students are admitted per year; other postgraduate courses such as MD Anaesthesiology, MD General Medicine and MS General Surgery provide postgraduate training with an intake of 25-27. It also offers super-specialty programmes in DM Cardiology, Neurology and M.Ch in several surgical disciplines but these are few in number. Every programme (beside of those that provide dual degree) is specified as a full time programme which plays an essential role in delivering intense and concentrated medical education.
The course offered at Madurai Medical College is premier and competitive based on nationally administered entrance tests. For the MBBS programme, there are selection based on the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test- Under Graduate (NEET-UG). The qualifications for MD or MS course, candidates will have to take an exam called NEET-PG for them to be admitted into a postgraduate course. These tests are accepted in the college in order to eradicate all possible biases when selecting qualified students. College Infrastructure
In Madurai medical college, my college infrastructure has well-equipped labs for pharmaceutics, chemistry, and pharmacology perfect for hands-on learning. There’s also a library, cafeteria, gym, and even indoor sports like badminton. Hostels are available, though some shared they need improvements. Overall, the infrastructure supports both study and daily life pretty well.
Over all a good college.
