These are institute-based scholarships having two dimensions. The criteria for the IIT Bombay scholarships, i.e. Private Scholarships, are both merit-based and means-based. The merit criteria hold for students entering their bachelor's degree in engineering and design through high rank in JEE and UCEED, and senior students are considered through their ranking or academic performance. The means criterion puts parental income as the central criterion, and the maximum allowed gross income is Rs. 5 lakh. This scholarship requires the submission of an income certificate issued by a government revenue officer, such as a tehsildar. If not, the income tax return of the parents needs to be submitted for consideration. Students must perform satisfactorily to benefit from this scholarship.Government Scholarships: These scholarships are of two kinds.National Scholarships: The national scholarships are offered by the state governments of India for students hailing from their respective states. IIT receives applications forwarded by the state governments, and they are awarded or renewed on an annual basis, with the academic performance of students as the main criterion.NTS: National Talent Search (NTS) scholarships are awarded during the higher secondary period of education of students, and they are continued both at the Bachelor's and Master's level programmes. Selection is done by the department.IIT Bombay Institute Scholarships: There are institute scholarships having two dimensions. Merit cum scholarships or MCM all offer to 25% of intake students and for dual degrees, they are available until the fourth year of study. The two main considerations for this scholarship is academic record and income. In terms of income, the main criteria for this scholarship are sources of income for family or parents that do not exceed Rs. 5,00,000 for eligibility. Students from the reserved category (SC/ST) are exempt from tuition. They can also avail of free tuition dining and availability up to the fourth year of study (dual degree). Also, students in reserved categories can exempt themselves from payment of hostel rent and can collect a pocket allowance of rupees 500 every month. According to the NIRF 2025 overall report, 731 UG 4-year students were placed with a median package of Rs 19.61 LPA. The median salary package for PG 2-year students is Rs 17.30 LPA in IITB placements. 543 companies registered, of these 388 participated in the placements, and 364 companies made offers during placements at IIT Bombay in 2024.Students got placed with the IIT Bombay highest package of Rs 1.68 crores during the placement drive 2023-24.For UG students, the IIT Bombay average salary package was Rs 21.82 lakhs.IIT Bombay summer internship 2026: Students are offered a stipend of Rs 15,000 per month. Indian Institute of Technology Bombay has released placements for 2023-24. There was a 12% increase in the number of recruiting companies. IIT Bombay average package offered to students is Rs 23.50 LPA. In IIT Bombay placements 2023-24, 1650 job offers were made, and 78 international offers were made. For UG students, IIT Bombay highest package stood at Rs 1.68 crores. In the year 2023-24, 90% of BS students were placed as per the IIT Bombay placement reports, and 88% of B.Tech students were placed. During IIT Bombay placements, around 40 companies conducted interviews in two slots.
