Government Meera Girls College, Udaipur

The College Hostel of Meera Girls’ College is the largest among the government hostels in Southern Rajasthan. It was constructed in 1966. It is situated in the Residency Camus behind Meera Girls’ College. Located centrally in the city, it is near markets, coaching institutes, hospitals, and recreation centers. The College campus has three spacious properly designed and well-furnished separate hostels. 226 rooms all three hostels can accommodate 600 students from diverse backgrounds from different parts of the state and region. It has well-furnished & spacious rooms. Each room has a bed, a study table, chair & cupboard. There is a common room in each hostel which is a place for recreation. The students use it for constructive activities- indoor games like carom, table tennis & get together. The hostels also have separate visitors' rooms. It provides newspapers & magazines to update the students with current affairs.  Color television with a DTH facility is installed in the common room of each hostel. The hostels have their mess to provide students with good, hygienic, and nutritious food. The hostel mess serves three meals a day to the residents. On weekends and special occasions – special dishes are served in addition to regular meals. Warden and matron quarters are also available and situated on the hostel campus. The College has one IT center where students can take customized computer training according to their requirements. The IT Centre is equipped with twenty-five computers with dedicated internet connections. All the computers are connected through LAN. The laboratories benefit the students as they acquire skills that reinforce the knowledge imparted in the classroom.

The college library is an integral part of every educational institution. Meera Girls' College has an enriched library in a separate building on the college campus. It has about ten sections spread in a constructed area of 22,000 sq. ft. There are separate stock rooms for Arts, Science & Commerce faculty. Also, there are separate stock rooms for U.G.C., Book bank, Reference, Periodical, etc. In addition to this, there is an issue counter, a property counter, a librarian room, a technical room & ten small rooms for research scholars. For maximum utilization of the library, the Library committee strategically sketches the smooth functioning of the library. The library is partially computerized and uses the Library management software (LMS) E-Library web-centric software. The library collection is accessible through a WEB-OPAC. In addition to the college library, students are also offered the facility of departmental Libraries for quick and easy access to books. The Library remains open from 9.00 a.m. - to 4.00 p.m. on all working days.

The College has a sports complex – MEERA SPORTS ACADEMY which is Rajasthan’s first sports academy developed exclusively for women. The academy was established under the Society Development Programme of the college. It has an indoor stadium for sports like badminton, table tennis, etc. & a large playground for sports like cricket, volleyball, basketball, athletics, etc. Regular practice sessions are conducted here to enhance the sports skills among the students. The students take part in the practice session & participate in the sports activities in the college as well as represent the college at the university, district, state, national & international levels. The college has a well-equipped GYM to cater to the needs of students. A special program WAMA SAKSHAM for training the students for their self-defense, physical and mental well-being, and personality development awareness about women's rights laws, is also run at the sports complex. This program stresses the aspect of self-defense and physical and mental well-being to bring about overall personality development and facilitate the empowerment of students. This is an after-class activity where students are trained in Marshal Arts and Defense, Physical Fitness Profiting, Yoga and Meditation, Personal Grooming, and Soft Skills. All the activities in the games and sports department are being carried out under the dexterous supervision of Dr.Chandra Shekhar Sharma.

The college has laboratory facilities for the following subjects – Physics, Chemistry, Botany, Zoology, Computer Science, Geography, Psychology, and Home Science. All the laboratories are well-equipped and furnished with computers & an internet facility. The college has a total of 6 Computer Labs. The college has a Zoological museum well stocked with invertebrate and vertebrate specimens, herbaria, and two Botanical Gardens for Life science students. Smart science laboratory is also established with a comprehensive range of virtual and augmented reality experiments and supporting learning resources in science subjects. 

The college has a health center with a first aid facility for the students.
