East Calcutta Girls’ College came into existence in 1992 and happens to be one of the very prominent institutions for learning in Kolkata. Spread over an area of 3 acres, the ECGC has grown into the center for women’s education with a total student enrolment of 844 and a faculty of 31 dedicated individuals. ECGC creates a learning ambience in which students and faculty meet, chat, discuss, argue, debate, and grow together. The library of this institution is well-stocked and functional. It operates from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekdays and from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturdays. Departmental laboratories have been provided to enable practical study in respective subjects. The erstwhile IT infrastructure put much emphasis on technological advancement. An auditorium and sports facilities are` available on campus for extracurricular activities and events organised at ECGC. The college has a health centre that gives first-aid facilities and a gym to keep the students fit. The food of the campus is handled by the cafeteria in case of staff and students, thus establishing the community sense.
