The University of Kalyani, the Department of Computer Science and Engineering is one of the highly reputed constituent colleges, in Kalyani, West Bengal. It was initiated as a co-educational institute in 1992. Recognised by AICTE, the prime objective of the institution is to spread meaningful education in the field of Computer Science. All three PG courses such as M. Tech, MCA, and Ph.D. are offered concerning different academic interest. The focused learning environment, faculty strength of 7 members is present in the department. The facilities of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering vary between good to very good, so much so that it will provide an enriching learning environment. The departmental library comprises about 2000 books. The library is continuously being updated with new books to keep the students attuned with the ever-evolving computer science. Apart from these, two well-equipped computing laboratories comprising about 50 nos of Desktop PCs, 10 nos of thin clients, and 3 nos of servers of well-reputed brands like IBM, Dell, and Sun are available to students. Digital electronics laboratory is adequately equipped with oscilloscopes, microprocessor kits, and interfacing facilities. Hands-on practice in optical fiber communication tools is offered in the communication engineering laboratory. The IT infrastructure in the department is very good. All computers are interlinked through a Departmental LAN further connected to the University fiber optic backbone, which provides a 4 Mbps Internet connection. Modern classrooms with LCD projectors supplement the chalk-and-board methodology of traditional teaching pedagogy for a dynamic learning environment. The college is affiliated to University of Kalyani.
A total of three full-time courses have been offered by the Department of Computer Science and Engineering. These are M.Tech in Computer Science and Engineering, MCA, and Ph.D. in Computer Science and Applications. All of these programmes have a common mission of producing efficient professionals and researchers in the fields of computer science and engineering.

The admission process in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering is different for various courses. Admission to the M.Tech course is strictly based on GATE score, written test, and interview. Admission to the postgraduate course into MCA course is provided through a West Bengal state-level test known as West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination for Masters in Computer Application conducted by West Bengal Joint Entrance Board. The College department maintains its own library. The departmental library currently contains around 2000 books and the stock of books is regularly updated. The library is fully accessible to the students, research scholars, and faculty members during working hours.

The College department maintains two computing laboratories containing around 50 desktop PCs, 10 thin clients, 3 servers (IBM, Dell, and Sun), printers, and scanners. There is also a digital electronics laboratory equipped with oscilloscopes, microprocessor kits, microprocessor interfacing kits, etc. A communication engineering laboratory is also present and it consists of optical fiber communication equipment.

The college has an excellent IT Infrastructure facility for the students.
- Auditorium
The college has an auditorium facility for events and seminars.

All College computers in the department are connected through a departmental LAN, which in turn is connected to the university fiber optic backbone providing 4 Mbps Internet connection facilities. As a result, all the students, research scholars, and faculty members enjoy the facility of all-time Internet connectivity.
- Classrooms
The College has a three classrooms each having capacity of 30 students. Besides this, there is one auditorium with a capacity of 100 people. Apart from the traditional chalk-black-board method, modern teaching equipment such as LCD projectors are available in most of the classrooms, and laboratories including the auditorium.
