About CVAS Bikaner
The College of Veterinary and Animal science, Bikaner, also known as CVAS Bikaner, was started in 1954. It is a constituent college at Bikaner, Rajasthan, that has been approved by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR). The college occupies a relatively large piece of land of 494.211 acres, providing a suitable learning environment for veterinary education. The college has a total student strength of 639 enrolled students and a faculty of 45 It offers 33 courses at four degrees and offers a specialised programme in animal husbandry and veterinary science.

CVAS Bikaner has good infrastructure to aid all its academic courses. The college provides six hostels for boys and one for girls with all requirements, like common room, visitors room, games facility, etc. Currently the library has over 37,000 text minimum basic stock that comprises of textbooks, reference books and journals. The college also have well-equipped practical laboratory for the training of the students. But for any co-curricular activities, there is availability of the auditoriums, cafeteria, play grounds for various games, and gymnasium. First aid facilities in a health centre complement the health of students in order to enable them to learn effectively.
The college teaches a variety of programmes, such as diploma in animal husbandry, Bachelor of Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry (B.V.Sc. & A.H), masters programmes (M.V.Sc. ) and doctorate programs (Ph.D.) in various areas of veterinary science. The B.V.Sc. & A.H programme is the main course offered with a capacity of 80 students and Diploma in Animal Husbandry takes 50 students every year. The M.V.Sc. programmes include wide-ranging specialisations like Animal Biotechnology, Veterinary Surgery and Radiology, Veterinary Pathology and among others offered by universities and taking different capacities at a time.
As mentioned earlier, CVAS Bikaner does offer admission to different courses under a competitive merit basis system. For B.V.Sc. & A.H programme, admission is given only through an entrance examination for a number of seats available in the college. The Diploma in Animal Husbandry programme takes into account the merit based on the marks obtained in the Senior Secondary (10+2) or its equivalent examination having the specified standard, subjects prayed. In the case of postgraduate and doctoral programmes, the candidate is interviewed by a committee constituted by the Dean of the College and prepares merit list position for admission in each subject.

- Boys Hostel
The College has six hostels, five for boys Two hostels for UG boys, two for PG boys, and one for internees having full-fledged facilities within them including toilets, kitchen-mess, common rooms, guest rooms, etc. The College hotels also have playgrounds for football, hockey, volleyball, basketball, TT, Kabaddi, etc. Two tennis courts do exist in the Bijay Bhawan complex.

The College library collection consists of about 37,446 publications including textbooks, reference books, manuals, advances, encyclopedias, dictionaries, and annual reports. During the year under report, 325 books, as well as 121 Reports/newsletters and pamphlets, were added to the library collection. The library subscribes to a large number of journals (foreign and Indian), magazines, and newspapers.
