The College of Pharmaceutical Sciences is located at Kottayam and was set up in 1974, being one of the oldest and premier institutions in the state of Kerala imparting education in the pharmaceutical field. Affiliated to the KPSC, Kottayam, this college set in Gandhi Nagar has been paving the path for pharmacy education for almost five decades now. Situated on a small 2.5 acre plot, the institute is recognised by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICT) and the Pharmacy Council of India (PCI) for maintaining a high standard of education to meet the market requirements. It has a current population of 284 students and nineteen faculty members, thus giving the college a concentrated educative curriculum. The institution provides two primary degree programmes: a two years Diploma course in Pharmacy (D.Pharma) and a four-year Bachelor of Pharmacy (B.Pharma) to fulfil the educational requirement of the growing pharma sector.

Facilities: Presenting a host of pharmaceutically designed equipment, the College of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Kottayam, also houses multi-faceted complexes to ensure the complete development of the students. College library acts as an information centre where students are required to get pharmaceutical literature and research works. Fully equipped laboratories with the latest technologies and different types of equipment are important since they provide practical lessons in a pharmacy course. As regards other activities, there are sports grounds and a gym for the college students to exercise and, thus, spend their free time.  An auditorium on the campus provides a platform for formal events and seminars and generates intellectual development outside the classroom. There are also first aid facilities in the college, and the health of students is being taken care of by a health centre. For example, when it comes to supporting students technological needs, the IT infrastructure is almost perfect. A separate hostel for boys and girls ensures proper facilities for outstation students to stay comfortably. 14 The campus cafeteria provides food and beverages for students as well as a relaxation area for the students. Further, it has a very functional alumni association through which the college gets great networking chances for learners.

Kottayam’s College of Pharmaceutical Sciences has a concentration system with only two main courses in the field of pharmacy. The institute offers a two years Pharma diploma known as D.Pharma and a four-year Bachelor of Pharmacy known as B.Pharma. Both programmes are full-time, campus-based degree programmes meant to offer an extensive understanding in pharmaceutical sciences. The D.Pharma course has an intake capacity of 60 students per year at an annual cost of Rs 13660/- adequate teaching facility is permitted in every batch. 

The B.Pharma programme also has an approved intake of 60 students annually and a tuition fee of Rs 92,680 per year, higher than that of D. Pharmacy because the curriculum is advanced. Furthermore, Dilip had established a B.Pharma Lateral Entry at the college, prompting the diploma holders to join the second year of the B.Pharma programme. All the courses account for 284 student intakes, and the college has an optimal student-faculty ratio, which enhances student attention and education.
