Athamallik College was established in 1978 in the district headquarters town of Athamallik, Odisha. This affiliated college located in an area of 11.15 acres of land has been delivering education for more than forty years in this region. Athamallik College has been assessed by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) and it provides range of under graduate courses. It caters the need of total sanctioned strength of 466 students and faculty of strength 23 which keeps the learning process close knit. This institution offers 12 courses in five degree programmes of Arts and Sciences, besides which consists such courses as BCA Self Finance.

There are several amenities found in the college that adds to the student facilities. The nucleus of any academic collection is the college library bearing over thirteen thousand books in addition to many journals and daily newspapers both in English & Odia. To improve practical knowledge, the college has modern lab facilities like Physics, Chemistry, Botany and Zoology Labs. For modern and computerized knowledge, Athamallik College has an air conditioned computer laboratory with forty desktop computers and one computer lecturer. The campus also features a vast spacious playground of 7000 sq meters dedicated to making sure that the students engage in physical activities for breaking down their congested learning regimes.

It offers 12 full-time programmes comprising honours and general undergraduate programmes in Arts and Sciences. The College has a well-furnished Air Conditioned Computer Laboratory having 40 numbers of desktop computers to provide basic knowledge to the students during their leisure time. Besides it also provides practical knowledge to the students under the CBCS course. A Computer Lecturer is in charge of the Computer Laboratory.

However, the College Health Center organizes periodical health check-ups of the students with the assistance of local health officials. The Center provides first aid in case of emergency. Disaster management training with the collaboration of the District Administration was organized by the Center with a focus on first-aid, burning, and accident injuries.
