The college has been Hostels of Assam Engineering College for over half a century and has been providing force and fuel to the life and motion of the College’s liberal, innovative academic culture. From the day of their establishment, they have been "a home away from home" for a generation of engineers. Though students can choose to be day-scholars, campus living encourages independence and helps students with the ability to adapt. Most of them have even celebrated their Golden Jubilee to mark 50 years of their glorious existence. Elegantly designed and surrounded by lawns and flower beds, each hostel is divided into a number of blocks and provides residential facilities to undergraduates from all across the state of Assam. There is presently seven boy’s residential complex. All the eight hostels on the campus offer well-ventilated, comfortable rooms available on a single or double/multi sharing basis. Each hostel has a fully furnished Common Room attached to it that provides the moment of leisure as well as a glimpse of laurels earned by the borders. Apart from it, the hostels boast of a Table-Tennis room, a fully-equipped Gymnasium, a 24/7 wifi network with internet access, and a spacious Dining-Hall which is maintained hygienically for students to enjoy their meals. The hostels have a cooperative mess that is managed by the boarders themselves. They also subscribe to a large number of national dailies and magazines to keep the students aware of the happenings in the world. To build an all-around personality, the Hostel boarders are actively involved in a large number of co-curricular activities. Four years in AEC Hostel matures a teen to a grown-up and ultimately into a responsible citizen of this country. The guiding principle for the hostels has been to strive towards excellence in upholding the spirit of camaraderie and dignity. Hostellers are to deposit the required security money and seat rent money (total in cash Rs. 8000.00 approx.) to the respective Hostel Superintendent. Hostel Superintendents will deposit the seat rent money to the Office of the Principal and collect the receipt.

The college has achieved holistic growth and development of the students and staff, a well-equipped infirmary on campus is instituted to extend warm medical care. The fully-functional AEC Hospital is well-appointed with residential doctors and staff. Each member of the institute is entitled to basic healthcare amenities available in the hospital. It provides indoor and outdoor medical facilities for common ailments. Complicated cases, though are referred for treatment to civic hospitals in the city.

This gym is open to both boys and girls with different timing of usage, as it is equipped with the latest workout instruments to boast about. The college has Assam Engineering College is one of the premier technical institutions of North East India. It has already completed sixty years of its glorious existence. The library has also been contributing greatly to fulfill the main objectives of its parent institution. The Central Library is one of the focal points of all user communities of Assam Engineering College. The library is accomplishing its task of reaching out to its user community. The primary goal of the library is to provide access to information in all formats in order to support the teaching, learning, research, and personal growth of its clients. At present, the library holds about 64000+ books, e-books, and e-journals. Our success lies in its use by the academic community of Assam Engineering College Library.

The college has Athletics is a major growing sector in the country, and so it also doesn’t go neglected in the college. During the evening and the morning time, we can see a groups and groups of athletes running around the area with proper dress code, to enhance their fitness. Moreover, the college arranges sports events during college week, pyrokinesis, fresher’s and also in around the year to promote this spirit amongst all the students, with no partiality is done with the girls. 

The college has Central Computing Centre (CCC) is a central facility, established in Assam Engineering College which caters to the needs of academic departments and various sections of the institute. CCC is instituted in a separate building. Centre has one of the envying infrastructures in the region in terms of computing facilities, Internet facilities, and Campus-wide Networking. The center is well equipped with the latest machines. It provides Internet facilities to the users in the CCC, all Departments, Libraries, faculty rooms, and administrative offices. The same facility has also been extended to all the hostels. Each member of the institute is provided with a unique log-in ID to make the best use of the facility.

The college canteen is a spacious food joint newly constructed for the purpose of serving wholesome, nutritious food to Asians. The canteen is situated near the Main Building and remains open from 7.00 A.M. to 7.00 P.M. on all working days. A wide variety of Indian snacks and dishes are available. During lunchtime, meals are available at very reasonable prices. A Cafeteria is also facilitated at the New Assam Type Building. The canteen besides being hygienic also provides swift service. It is frequented perhaps more by the hostellers looking for a change from hostel grub than the occasional visitor. The ever-busy canteen bustling with inquisitive minds is a recreational -cum-hangout place for the members of the AEC family.
