The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) and the Central Vigilance Commission (CVC), India’s apex body for promoting integrity and transparency in public administration, will jointly organize an Essay Writing Competition. This event will run as part of Vigilance Awareness Week from October 27 to November 2, 2025.
Theme and Objectives
The competition, themed “Vigilance: Our Shared Responsibility” (सतर्कता : हमारी साझा जिम्मेदारी), aims to instill honesty, ethics, and civic duty in young minds. It also supports the CBSE’s and CVC’s mission to prevent corruption through participative and preventive vigilance. Furthermore, it reinforces education’s role in nation-building.

Submission and Evaluation Process
Each school will shortlist its top three essays through internal evaluation. It will then submit them in PDF format via the CBSE portal (https://cbseit.in/cbse/2025/cvc) by 5:00 p.m. on October 6, 2025. In addition, schools must enter student participation details online.
Regional teams will evaluate the three best entries per school. They will then forward shortlisted essays to the national level for screening. The national panel will select the top five entries and send them to the Central Vigilance Commission for final recognition and awards.
During Vigilance Awareness Week, schools should also honor the best essays at the institutional level. This step will further promote dialogue on vigilance and integrity.
Judging Criteria
Evaluators will score essays on:
-
Originality and creativity
-
Clarity of presentation and organization
-
Supporting evidence and examples
-
Relevance to the topic
Moreover, they will immediately disqualify any plagiarized entry. This policy maintains zero tolerance for plagiarism at every stage.
Encouraging Mass Participation
Schools should mobilize maximum student engagement. By doing so, they foster a culture of ethical thinking, civic responsibility, and academic integrity across India’s school communities.
