In line with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has introduced 14 new Capacity Building Programmes (CBPs) to empower teachers across its affiliated schools. The circular, released on September 22, 2025, announced that these training modules will begin from October 2025.

Strengthening Teacher Competencies

CBSE unveiled these CBPs during the National Teachers Conference 2025 in Patna. The programmes focus on teachers’ continuous professional development (CPD) by enhancing both subject knowledge and pedagogy. They simplify complex concepts and align with modern frameworks like the National Curriculum Framework for School Education (NCF-SE) 2023.

Key Details of the New Programmes

The 14 CBPs cover diverse subjects and teaching domains, blending subject-specific expertise with generic skills:

  • Hindi Language (Class 10 ‘B’ Course): Strengthens teaching strategies with a focus on national pedagogical objectives.

  • Sanskrit: Promotes learner-centric methods to improve listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills.

  • Painting: Encourages creative expression with folk art, origami, printmaking, and calligraphy.

  • Competency-Based Assessment (Social Science, Science, Mathematics): Helps teachers design case-based assessments for grades 6–10.

  • Competency-Based Assessment (Hindi and English): Provides tools to create effective MCQs and descriptive questions for middle grades.

  • Economics (Class XII): Focuses on competency-based teaching of national income and aggregates.

  • Value Education through Sports: Promotes teamwork, resilience, and inclusion by integrating sports into pedagogy.

  • STEM Education: Emphasizes inquiry-based learning and hands-on activities to build 21st-century skills.

Each programme equips educators with session plans, assessment rubrics, and innovative classroom practices.

Implementation and Outreach

CBSE will launch the programmes in October 2025 through its Centre of Excellence and the Prashikshan Triveni Portal. This ensures easy access for teachers across all affiliated schools. Principals and heads of schools must share the information widely so that maximum educators can benefit.

Commitment to Quality Education

With this initiative, CBSE strengthens its focus on teacher development as the foundation of education reform. By training educators in modern teaching methods and assessment tools, it aims to build an inclusive, future-ready learning environment.

Ultimately, CBSE highlights the crucial role teachers play in shaping India’s education system. These programmes promise to improve learning outcomes and foster holistic student growth across the country. Click here
