India celebrated the 10th edition of Ayurveda Day on September 23, 2025, under the theme “Ayurveda for People and Planet.” The theme highlighted Ayurveda’s role as a holistic health system rooted in harmony between human well-being and environmental sustainability.
Significance and Global Outreach
For the first time, the government fixed Ayurveda Day on September 23, giving it formal recognition on the global calendar. The All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA), Goa, hosted the main event. This state-of-the-art center showcases India’s commitment to traditional medicine in the modern era.
The Ministry of AYUSH led nationwide celebrations across all states and union territories. Indian missions, universities, and wellness organizations abroad also organized events. Building on participation from more than 150 countries in previous years, Ayurveda Day 2025 expanded global awareness and reaffirmed India’s leadership in traditional medicine.

The government presented the National Dhanwantari Ayurveda Awards 2025 to honor outstanding contributions in Ayurveda promotion, research, teaching, and policy planning.

AIIA Goa inaugurated new healthcare facilities, including an Integrative Oncology Unit, Central Sterile Supply Department, Hospital Linen Care Unit, and Blood Supply Unit. These facilities integrate Ayurveda with modern medicine to advance specialized patient care.

The Ministry launched Desh ka Swasthya Parikshan, a nationwide health check-up campaign emphasizing Ayurvedic preventive care.

Leaders unveiled the DRAVYA portal, India’s largest digital database of Ayurvedic ingredients and products, along with the APTA portal documenting eminent practitioners’ contributions.

AIIA Goa and Tata Memorial Centre signed collaborative MoUs to promote research and educational exchanges. Other national institutions also joined these partnerships.
