New Delhi, August 22, 2025 — The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has joined forces with the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) to fight substance abuse among students. On September 3, 2025, the two organizations will sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at the CBSE headquarters in Dwarka, New Delhi. This partnership aims to build drug-free environments in CBSE-affiliated schools.

Substance abuse affects many students’ health and futures. Schools play a vital role in guiding students toward healthy choices. CBSE and NCB will work together through awareness programs, workshops, and counseling sessions to support this.

The MoU signing ceremony will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Afterward, CBSE will hold an awareness program for principals and counselors of its affiliated schools. The program will teach effective ways to prevent substance abuse and strengthen the role of educators and counselors in creating safe school communities.

Himanshu Gupta, IAS, Secretary of CBSE, said, “Our schools must be safe spaces that discourage drug use. This collaboration with the NCB marks a critical step in safeguarding our students.”

Principals and counselors from CBSE schools are invited to register for the awareness program. Registration will work on a first-come, first-served basis. The program is free, though participants will cover their own travel and accommodation costs.

Expanding Anti-Drug Initiatives Across Schools

Various education authorities support this effort, including Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan, Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti, and multiple state education departments. Together, they will expand the reach of anti-drug initiatives in schools.

This partnership will help students make better life choices. It aims to lower drug abuse rates and build healthier future generations. The event will take place at the CBSE Integrated Office Complex, Sector-23, Phase-1, Dwarka.

For registration and more details, CBSE has provided an online link and contact email. This partnership shows the strong commitment of education and enforcement agencies to protect India’s youth and promote drug-free schools.
