The College of Applied Science Chelakkara (CAS Chelakkara) came into existence in the year 2008, located in the beautiful town Chelakkara of Kerala. - Library
The College of Applied Science, Chelakkara has a well-organized library with a volume of almost 2000 books on Computer Science, Electronics, and Commerce. Also, a few books for general reading are available in the collection. The library is a subscriber to 8 journals and 5 magazines. 3 daily newspapers are available in the library, namely, Mathrubhumi, Malayala Manorama & The Hindu. Besides all these documents, the collection includes 200 bound volumes of periodicals, previous years’ project reports, CDs & DVDs of books and periodicals, etc. The library is automated with the open-source library software KOHA. All library transactions are done through KOHA. As a first step towards the concept of a Digital Library, the previous years’ question papers are scanned and mailed to the users on demand. All students and staff are members of the library. The library is open on all working days from 9.30 a.m. to 4.00 p.m.
- I.T Infrastructure
The College's main computer lab is spacious, fully airconditioned, and well-planned consisting of more than 100 systems of which the major share is contributed by advanced machines. The lab has the latest hi-tech configuration of hardware and software. The lab is equipped with Operating Systems like Windows Server, Windows-Desktop, and open-source software like Linux. Multimedia Kits have also been set up for students to develop their knowledge with creativity. The entire computer lab is provided with LAN networking. This lab helps students to brush up on their computer skills and translate their logic and imagination into innovative applications. An additional Programming Lab has been provided exclusively for developing programming skills.
- Laboratories
The College has excellent Labs both for Electronics and Computer Science oriented studies. An unlimited 24/7 Broadband Connection with 2 Mbps speed and four 512 Kbps connections form the backbone of Internet connectivity. The Electronics lab provides the students with a strong footing in the fields of Analog and Digital Circuit Design, Communication, Instrumentation and Control, Digital Signal Processing, Digital Electronics, and Microprocessors. The program offered here provides the students with a firm foundation in both theoretical and practical aspects of electronics science. Teachers with industry and research experience are available at the training center. The labs are continuously updated every year and facilitate R&D work for the final-year students.
