College of Fisheries, Ratnagiri, was established in the year 1981 and is one of the constituent colleges of the Maharashtra, devoted exclusively to fisheries education. The institute is situated in Shirgaon, Ratnagiri, and the institute occupies a total land area of 35.83 acres. Although it is an autonomous body, the programmes are recognised by the Indian Council for Agricultural Research (ICAR) and it provides the complete spectrum of programmes in fisheries science or bio resources .

College of Fisheries has a total student enrolment of 220 and has six professors teaching in the college. This is because the college is a co-educational institution a factor that implies that both boys and girls are allowed to learn all that is taught here. The college has all the necessary faculties to accommodate it’s academic courses. The library has a collection of 12,500 books including textbooks and reference books, 15 Indian journals in print and five foreign journals in online version annually. The College has library has a good number of book collections including textbooks, reference books, and other collections, The total collection of books is 12500, and every year library subscribes to 15 Indian journals in physical format, and five online foreign journals. The library has a collection of reports, Newsletters magazines, etc. The college library has a PG/Ph.D. thesis 315.
- Laboratories
The college has a departmental-based laboratory facility for the students.
- Boys Hostel
College of Fisheries, Shirgaon, Ratnagiri has two Boys Hostels viz., Old Boys Hostel and New Boys Hostel. Old Boys Hostel which was established in 1981-82 mainly accommodates PG students. New Boys Hostel established in 1998-1999 is for UG students.
